All American Poker
All American Poker is a video poker variant that is based on the more commonly played Jacks or Better video poker. This is one of the most popular choices among our casino games: it is considered a classic option but with a fresh and new taste. Some of our NZ players enjoy playing the free version in order to master this game while others go immediately for the real money version. All of them have great fun and come back to play and win…
All American vs. Jacks or Better
All American video poker pays out higher for straight flush, four of a kind, flush and straight, although it pays out lower for two pair. The differences in the payouts are larger for the middle hands and small for the two pair payout. However, keep in mind that when you play video poker, the middle hands of straight flush, four of a kind, flush and straight are dealt 2-3% of the time, while the two pair hand is dealt 13% of the time. This means that the payout for the middle hands will make a bigger difference on a smaller number of occasions, while the lower hand will make a smaller difference on a larger number of occasions. The pay table in the game is the same as for Jacks or Better with a minimum payout for a pair of Jacks or Better. The difference lies in the payout for some of the poker hands, particularly those in the middle. All American poker is played with a single deck of 52 cards and includes no wild cards.
Hand Rankings
All American poker requires players to make the best possible five card poker hand. Hand rankings, from highest to lowest, are as follows:
- Royal flush – five cards in series in the same suit. Ace high.
- Straight flush – five cards in series in the same suit.
- Four of a kind – four cards of the same value.
- Full house – three cards of one value and two cards of another identical value.
- Flush – five cards in the same suit.
- Straight – five cards in series of mixed suits.
- Three of a kind – three cards of one value and two other cards of different values.
- Jacks or better – two cards of the same value, Jacks or higher.
How to Play All American Video Poker
The aim of the game is to create the best possible five card poker hand using the five cards dealt to you. To begin the game of All American poker you need to choose your bet size – choose a coin denomination and the number of coins you want to play with and then click on the “deal” button. You will be dealt five cards face up and will be able to choose any or none of those cards to hold. Click on the cards you wish to hold. Then click on the “draw” button to re-deal the cards that have not been held and to give you five new cards. This will be your final poker hand. These cards will then be ranked according to the poker hand rankings in the pay table and you will be paid out for any wins.
Double or Nothing
If you win, you will be given the choice to gamble to double your win. Five cards will be dealt – one card face up as the dealer’s card and four cards face down. You will need to choose one card out of the face down cards to hold. The cards will then be revealed and if your card ranks higher than the dealer’s card, your win will be double. If your card ranks lower than the dealer’s card, you will lose your winnings from that round. If you win you will be given the choice to gamble again to double your winnings, while if you lose you will be returned to the base game.
